Green Tea May Improve Actions Of Antibiotics

Egyptian scientists reported today at the Society for General Microbiology’s 162nd meeting that green tea may help defeat superbugs.

The researchers found that drinking green tea helps the action of important antibiotics to fight off superbugs by up to 300%. The effect of green tea was test in combination with antibiotics against 28 disease causing micro-organisms. They found that in all cases green tea improved the bacteria-killing action of the antibiotics.

I have written about the benefits of drinking green tea in the past, but it’s interesting to note that green tea can help antibiotics. I have always been a big fan of green tea, and this certainly reinforces that.

I’m a proponent of green tea — it’s been wonderful for me. I didn’t have any illnesses over the winter, just allergies flared up as soon as the Bradford Pear trees began blooming. It’s nice to know that it will enhance the benefits of antibiotics if I ever need to take any again.
