Some New Exercise Gadgets and Equipment

Many of the latest treadmills are getting things such as TVs, more complex courses, and USB ports for MP3 players. I would expect computer communications (most likely via WiFi) to become available within the next year or two.

Classic Outdoor and Recreational Equipment is developing an exercise bike that can be hooked to a Sony Playstation 2 or a PC for users to race against computer opponents. The link for the wireless product can be found here

Personally, I would prefer actually cycling to a simulated ride. However, for those who do not live in cyclist friendly areas or are looking for the latest edge this may be the way to go.

Some new non-tech gadgets include the Trikke, which is a three-wheeled scooter that uses a rocking motion to propel you forward. It looks similar to downhill skiing or inline skating. This seems like a great off season tool for skiers; however, it does look a little goofy to use.

The BodyWedge21 is foam wedge with 21 different exercises printed on it. Honestly, it looks too much like a Liberator to me, but it sounds like it may have its uses for pregnant women since they should not be exercising on their backs.

Wi-Fi in Treadmills? Wow. But I don’t think that would be really useful. How do you expect to surf the net when youre running?

I think the Game Bike is the most useful among the three you’ve mentioned. Playing against an opponent would certainly be more fun and engaging.
